Just recently (September 2013) The Yale University called together a meeting of minds around the issue of food sovereignty, to wide spread interest and with keynote addresses given by Paul Nicholson (La Via Campesina),Teodor Shanin (The Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences), Bina Agarwal (Manchester University), and Olivier de Schutter (UN Rapporteur for the Right to Food). http://www.yale.edu/agrarianstudies/foodsovereignty/
With much talk of community gardens, local and slow food movements and food miles campaigns, The Red Place would like to host a series of conversations around the food movement in our local area. Your passion may be growing in schools, a local farmer, a passionate supporter of the local food movement, a small time grower, a member of a grower or buyers group, have an interest in cooperatives or collaborate models, or just love to eat good food!
Here's to a home grown food movement!
